The short version

We don't want your data. We know your car as Penelope, and that's all we'll ever know.

The website

• No accounts. You can read everything, use the calculator and browse the Diary without telling us anything.
• The Despatch (newsletter):if you subscribe, we keep your email address for one purpose - sending you The Despatch. The invitation may also ask, entirely optionally, which realm you're in and what your dream car is - used only to make The Despatch more useful to you (the meets near you, the dreams you actually dream). To actually send the emails we use Klaviyo, a newsletter service, so your address (and, if you gave one, your dream car) is stored with them on our behalf - for sending The Despatch and nothing else. None of it is ever sold, shared beyond that, or used for anything else, and every edition includes a way out. Email us and it's deleted from both, same day.
• Garage reminders (optional):if you turn on reminders in the web garage, your browser gives us a delivery address for notifications and we keep your renewal dates and their labels (for example "Rego renewal - Lady Penelope") - that is the entire list, and it exists only so we can send the nudge. Turn reminders off and it is deleted immediately. Everything else about your cars stays on your device, as ever.
• Suggesting an event: a name or email is optional and used only to ask about your event. Never added to any list.
• Commissioning a colour: we keep the name and email you give us, plus the colour brief itself, for one purpose - to confirm the commission, arrange payment and send you the finished swatch. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe on their own pages, so we never see your card. Your details are never sold, shared or added to The Despatch, and are deleted on request, same day.
• No advertising trackers. Any sponsors we ever feature are shown to everyone alike, not targeted at you.

The Royal Garage app

• Everything stays on your iPhone. Your cars, pet names, costs, values, dreams and mantras live on your device and nowhere else. We run no servers for them and could not read them if we wanted to.
• No account, no personal data, no number plate - and no photos of your car. The app asks nothing about who you are, wants no registration details, and needs no photo of your car. The portrait is painted - colour, silhouette, monogram - so nothing that could identify your car enters the app at all.
• The Registry (optional). Members who want their founding seat recognised can claim it in the app with the email they joined The Despatch with. The Registry keeps exactly two things on our server: that email, and your seat number. No name, no plate, no garage - those never leave your phone. Leave the Registry in the app any time, and email us for a full release, done the same day. Future cloud extras (like syncing across your devices) will follow the same rule: opt-in, and the very least we can manage - never your real name, never your plate.
• The texts are local. Notifications are scheduled on your phone, by your phone. Nothing is sent to us.
• The app fetches, never sends - with one knock at the door. It reads our public events and articles feeds the way a browser reads a page. The single exception is the optional Registry claim above, which sends the one email address you typed, and nothing else, to take your seat.

Photography

Number plates and bystanders' faces are blurred in every photo we publish, including at public events. People are never identified without consent. Spot something we missed? Email us and it comes down or gets blurred the same day.
